'Distant Shores'

Distant Shores was a T.V. series, starring Peter Davidson and Samantha Bond, that was filmed in Craster in 2005. Although two series were made, following a luke warm critical response, only one series was actually broadcast in the U.K.

Craster represented the fictional setting of the Northumbrian island of Hildasay and this involved 'dressing up' various local landmarks, particularly around the harbour, to play their part in the series. The mermaid statue, which is now located next to the R.N.L.I. building was specially made for the show.
